As i have heard and researched, Chikhaldara is the place where place where Bheema killed the villainous Keechaka of the Hindu Mythological Epic Mahabharata and then threw him into the valley. This is where this place got its name, Keechakadara - Chikhaldara.
Chikhaldara is the only Hill Station in the Vidarbha region, it is situated at an altitude of 1118 m with highest Vairat Point at 1188m and has the only coffee-growing area in Maharashtra.
You might also catch a glimpse of a Tiger, panther, sloth bear, wild boar and even the rarely seen wild dogs.
The scenic beauty and the greenery of Chikhaldara can be enjoyed from various Points like The Hurricane Point, Prospect Point, and Devi Point. Other interesting places you might want to travel nearby are Gavilgad Fort and Narnala Fort, The Pandit Nehru Botanical Gardens, the Tribal Museum and the Semadoh Lake.
